Position Overview:The Auxiliary Operator will work under the supervision of the Shift Supervisor and the direction of the Control Room Operator. They will be responsible for the operation and inspection of various systems and equipment as assigned. Normally, their assigned areas will include the boilers/turbines and associated systems fans, grates, ash and dust systems, in addition, when so assigned by the Shift Supervisor, the Auxiliary Operator will perform the duties of crane operator. If needed, the Auxiliary Operator will also assist the Maintenance team during scheduled, unscheduled outages.
The duties of the Auxiliary Operator include the safe and efficient operation of their assigned equipment in accordance with the established plant operating procedures. They are responsible for recording data, reporting equipment malfunctions or trends, which indicate possible trouble, and performing actions as directed to correct abnormal operating conditions or emergency situations.
Degree preferred but not required (HS/GED Required)
5+ years high pressure boiler/electric generating equipment experience
Strong mechanical background
Good communications & interpersonal skills
Ability to work a 12 hour (6am-6pm) and (6pm-6am) Day & Night “ROTATING SHIFT”
Ability to work in a physically demanding environment
