A senior engineering position in a growing nuclear power organization that is looking for Senior Engineers who can manage projects and utilize their industry experience improve aspects of a nuclear power plant. The exact level of responsibilities will be determined by your experience as the company is looking to hire multiple Senior Engineers to help the Engineering Department meet growing personnel requirements. Senior Engineers will be responsible for interfacing with station personnel, development or Implementation of Engineering Programs and Processes, preparing plans to improve system reliability, resolving plant performance issues, and providing engineering and technical consultation services in the solution of complex technical problems.
Duties and responsibilities include:
Performs work of average complexity that conforms to all project/task requirements, including defined scope, schedule, budget, and that requires an independent understanding and application of engineering theories, calculations and computer codes for design applications, standards, concepts, techniques as well as knowledge of engineering industry codes and government regulations.
Provides technical support for daily operations, plant improvements, process improvements design, equipment acquisition, plant breakdown and analysis, self-assessment, technical review of vendor engineering products.
Works closely with engineering, maintenance and operations staff, along with other groups within and outside the Company, to quickly resolve technical issues.
Works under general supervision, taking ownership of project/task completion to meet scheduled due dates, identifying emerging issues, troubleshooting, and contributing solutions for complex technical problems.
Trains personnel in the application and use of engineering concepts, materials, plant design-based equipment, or procedures.
Directs personnel in established practices, technical and quality assurance procedures; monitors and develops the engineering expertise of personnel.
May act as the technical expert in an area of responsibility.
Identifies and helps solve problems by bringing to bear needed resources and information.
Develops and nurtures relationships with key technical counterparts, trade allies and customers within and outside the Company and other extern stakeholders.
Requirements: The ideal candidate will have working knowledge of plant systems, equipment, policies, practices, codes, and standards. Detailed understanding of engineering principles, project/application management and cost control techniques. Have the capacity to demonstrate the ability to develop and execute solutions for technical problems and issues through the use of FMEA or similar processes. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and test systems and equipment and recommend workable solutions. Obtains the ability to lead/execute projects and site initiatives. A BS degree in an engineering discipline or physical science and demonstrated proficiency in engineering projects and 3-6 years of engineering experience in a nuclear power environment (to include US Navy nuclear power facilities). BWR power plant experience is desired but not required.
